Botox
What is Botox?
The main ingredient in Botox, botulinum toxin, has the effect of inhibiting muscle contraction, so when Botox is injected, the muscles relax and wrinkles are reduced.
Therefore, it can improve wrinkles that appear when making facial expressions rather than deep wrinkles. It also has the effect of suppressing stiff shoulders and excessive sweating.

About INNOTOX®
INNOTOX® is the world's first liquid botulinum toxin formulation, developed by South Korea's Medytox using its advanced research capabilities. Medytox is a global pharmaceutical company that developed the first botulinum toxin formulation in South Korea and has expanded into more than 60 countries around the world.
The botulinum toxin used in INNOTOX® was developed from a strain (C. botulinum type A Hall) stored at the University of Wisconsin in the United States. This strain is also used by Allergan, the manufacturer of Botox® , and in 2014, a license agreement worth approximately 40 billion yen was signed for Allergan to acquire sales rights to INNOTOX®. (Subsequently, with the reorganization of Allergan, sales rights were returned to Medytox, and preparations are underway for FDA approval.)
INNOTOX® has the following three features compared to conventional botulinum toxin preparations:
1. Completely free of animal-derived substances
INNOTOX® is the world's first formulation that is completely free of animal-derived substances and human serum albumin.
This helps prevent the occurrence of side effects from human serum albumin, such as fever, low blood pressure, difficulty breathing, dermatitis, and hives.
(Since the early 2000s, Europe and the United States have recommended not using animal-derived substances or human serum albumin in pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.)
2. Highly stable liquid formulation
Conventional botulinum toxin preparations are in powder form, and are dissolved in saline or other liquid at each clinic before being injected. During the preparation process, there may be differences and unevenness in the concentration between clinics.
On the other hand, INNOTOX® is a liquid formulation, so there is no need for each clinic to dissolve it in saline solution. Therefore, there are no differences or unevenness in concentration between clinics. In addition, the risk of bacteria or viruses entering during the preparation process is reduced.
In addition, conventional botulinum toxin preparations require frozen storage, raising the risk of deterioration during transport, but INNOTOX® can be stored refrigerated at 2-8°C, reducing the risk of deterioration during transport and increasing the stability of the preparation.
3. The effect lasts a long time
In a Phase III clinical evaluation of INNOTOX®, it was reported that its effectiveness was maintained for a longer period of time than conventional botulinum toxin preparations.
The effect begins to appear 2-3 days after the treatment, peaks in about 2 weeks, and then lasts for a long period of time (4-9 months) (conventional botulinum toxin preparations have been reported to last 3-6 months).
